Important Notice: Grants are usually funded either by state and federal agencies or by private foundations. At GCSU, individuals seeking state and federal grant funding should work with staff from the Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects (OGSP) and submit their applications through the university's Early Notification System (ENS) and online approval process. Individuals seeking grants from private foundations should work with University Advancement development officers and will not submit their proposals through the university's ENS or online approval process.

Under certain circumstances, research-oriented private foundation grants may have to be routed through the university's approval process and administered by the university. On such occasions, University Advancement staff will notify both the PI and OGSP staff to ensure that all parties know how the grant will be handled.

PROJECT PROPOSAL FORM

This proposal notification form was developed as a planning and communication instrument to alert key offices that a grant proposal is being written and will soon be sent through the internal approval process. Using the form will ensure that pertinent offices and individuals, who are charged with providing assistance and support, know that a proposal is in progress. Basic information about the grant proposal will be emailed to the appropriate individuals, thus allowing more lead time to gather complete information, fully understand the project, examine the proposal for any university commitments, and look at the resulting impact on campus resources.

When you are at this stage of finalizing your proposal for internal approval, Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects is your best avenue for assistance and guidance. The office has resources and checklists that will help you finalize and polish your proposal.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please call Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects at 445-3497.
