Important Notice: Grants are usually funded either by state and federal agencies or by private foundations. At GCSU, individuals seeking state and federal grant funding should work with staff from the Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects (OGSP) and submit their applications through the university's Early Notification System (ENS) and online approval process. Individuals seeking grants from private foundations should work with University Advancement development officers and will not submit their proposals through the university's ENS or online approval process.

Under certain circumstances, research-oriented private foundation grants may have to be routed through the university's approval process and administered by the university. On such occasions, University Advancement staff will notify both the PI and OGSP staff to ensure that all parties know how the grant will be handled.

APPROVAL AND BUDGET SUMMARY FORM (Required)

This online Proposal Approval and Budget Summary Form was designed to expedite the administrative review, approval, and sign-off. All proposals, along with the budget, must be reviewed and receive full administrative approval in the 'sign-off' process. No proposal may leave GCSU without full approval of the budget and a full review and approval of the university's commitment to the proposed activity. Failure to obtain such approval could result in the refusal of GCSU to accept an award.

Use of the online approval form will ensure that pertinent offices and individuals, who are charged with providing support and approval will receive the proposal in a timely manner. The pertinent information regarding the proposal, budget, and budget narrative will be emailed to the administrators for review. The online system will also allow for online review and approval and reduce the time needed to walk the proposal through for the necessary signatures.

When you are at this stage of submitting your proposal for internal approval, Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects is your best avenue for assistance and guidance.

When you submit the approval form, your proposal will be assigned a number so that university will be able to track your proposal through the approval, submission, and award process. In order to have enough time for your proposal to be routed through the sign-off process, the approval form should be submitted at least 7 working days prior to the submission deadline.
