PAWS — Faculty &
Advisors
GUIDE SHEET
LOGGING INTO THE WEB SITE:
- Using
Netscape, go to http://paws.gcsu.edu
- Click
on the PAWS button
- Enter
social security number and pin (If you forgot your pin, contact the
Records Office)
- NOTE:
- The
PAWS program is designed to work with INTERNET EXPLORER. Although
parts may work with MS Explorer, there will be problems
- Do
not use the BACK button when navigating through PAWS unless
instructed to do so. Use RETURN TO MENU when available
GENERAL SCHEDULE OF CLASSES AND SEATS AVAILABLE:
There are two options:
- Click
on the Class Schedule link in the Public Access area of the main
PAWS page
- Login
to the Secure Access area, enter social security number and pin,
click on CATS (Course Availability Tracking System) on the first
menu
REGISTRATION & DROP/ADD
- From
the Main Menu, click on Faculty & Advisors Menu
- Click
Term Selection and complete
Selecting Student
- Click
Student ID Selection
- Click
Registration Drop/Add, type the student’s id number by
clicking on Enter Student ID Directly. Click OK to
acknowledge this is the student requested. Enter the Student PIN
(ask the student or if they are a new student it should be their birth
date (mmddyy or yymmdd).
PIN problems are handled in the RECORDS OFFICE
Choosing courses
- Option
1
- Enter the CRN number on
the Add Classes Page
- Option
2
- Class Search to review
courses
- Click
on box of desired course. If there is a "C" the course
is closed
- Click
Register (Not Add to worksheet)
- Continue
as needed
- To
Change a Choice
- Choose
WEB DROP under the Action Column
- Click
Submit Changes
- Click
on Submit Changes to save the registration
- Return To Menu
- To
ADD additional Courses after exiting the Registration module
- Start
at the top of this procedure as needed
NOTE:
- There is NO LONGER AN ASSESS FEES OR VIEW
FEES BUTTON
- If there is a HOLD on the student, that
hold must be released by the Office placing the hold.
- If a student is sent to remove a hold,
they may take a Schedule Planning Sheet with them and
submit to the Records Office or return to you. Be
sure you know if the student plans to return.
- Students do not have to go to the business
office unless they want to pay at this time. Bills
will be mailed. Students will now also have the option of
paying with credit card on line from the INFO page or the PAWS
login page.
PRINTABLE STUDENT SCHEDULE (NEW PROCEDURES)
- From
Faculty & Advisors Menu click GC&SU PRINTABLE SCHEDULE
- Print this page for the
student using the Print button on NETSCAPE
- NOTE: Printing will be faster
if the NETSCAPE properties are set to econoprint
or draft print and gray scale. This is done the first time you try to
print by choosing PROPERTIES in the Print Box that
appears. This has to be selected only one time since it will remain
until you exit NETSCAPE
- Use Back Button (yes it
is OK this time) after printing
YOU ARE NOW READY TO REGISTER THE NEXT STUDENT OR LOG OUT

the main menu, choose Faculty & Advisor Menu
- Choose
Select Student
- Enter
term

Student ID or Search for ID

CLASS ROSTER:
From the Main Menu, click Faculty &
Advisors Menu. Towards the bottom of the page click on the
GC&SU Quick Course Roster.
SAVING THE
GC&SU Quick Course Roster TO EXCEL:
- In
PAWS Faculty & Advisors Menu, go to the Quick Course Roster
link andretrieve the appropriate
course.
- On
the NETSCAPE, click Edit, Select All.
- Click
File, Save As, enter the desired file name
- Open Excel. Click File,
Open. Find the file name that was saved fromthe
browser;
- Click
on the file so that it opens into Excel.
- At
this point you can modify the spreadsheet to resize the columns,delete unwanted text,
etc. Then simply Save.
