Before joining GCSU, Professor Belanger attended Harvard University where he is completing a dissertation in the Committee on Inner Asian and Altaic Studies titled, "Anxiety about the Absent Buddha: The Veneration of Stupas in Two Buddhist Textual Traditions in South and Inner Asian Buddhism." He earned a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a Masters degree in Asian studies from the University of Texas, in Austin, Texas. His research includes merit from the worship of Buddhist reliquaries, the history of Inner Asian Buddhism, and Buddhist confession texts in the Eastern Iranian language of Khotanese.
Karen Berman

Before coming to GCSU, Dr. Berman was president of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education; artistic director for Washington Women in Theatre, and an adjunct assistant professor and artistic advisor for Student Theatre Groups at Georgetown University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre and psychology at George Washington University, a Masters in Fine Arts in directing at Catholic University of America, and is currently completing her dissertation toward Doctorate degree in Capella University. She has directed plays and performed stage readings at theatres ranging from off-Broadway to the Washington, D.C. area. Her research interests include in cognition and creativity, arts-in-education, theatre for social change, women playwrights, new plays, arts advocacy, and directing. Her current research involves a study of creative cognition in theatre directors.
Alex E. Blazer, Ph.D.

Before joining GCSU, Dr. Blazer was an assistant professor of English at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Missouri, and a visiting assistant professor of English at University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Denison University, Granville, Ohio; a Master of Arts degree and his Doctor of Philosophy degree at The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. His research interests include contemporary American literature and critical theory.
Craig Callender, Ph.D.

Prior to coming to GCSU, Dr. Callender was a lecturer in English and Linguistics at Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken, Germany. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in German at Louisiana State University; a Master of Arts in linguistics and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Linguistics at University of South Carolina. His research interests include historical linguistics, phonology, Germanic languages, language acquisition and dialectology.

Rebecca Carte, Ph.D.

Dr. Carte was a lecturer at Ohio State University prior to joining GCSU’s faculty. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Ohio State University. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Spanish from Northern Illinois University; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Spanish, (specializing in Latin American Literatures and Cultures) from Ohio State University. Her research interests include colonial and comparative studies.

Dr. Cazacu previously served as an assistant professor of mathematics at University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in mathematics at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La.

Dr. Cossey holds a Bachelor of Science degree at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla. a Master of Science degree in Chemistry, and a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry from Pennsylvania State University. Her research interests include organic chemistry and chemical education.

Lana Adelaide McDowell

Before joining GCSU, Professor McDowell served as a graduate teaching assistant, a graduate research assistant and as an instructor at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. She was also a graduate assistant at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science, criminal justice and criminology, and a Master of Arts Degree in criminal justice and criminology at East Tennessee State University. She is currently working toward her Doctor of Philosophy degree in administration of justice at The University of Southern Mississippi. Her research interests include restorative justice, peacemaking criminology, corrections, and ethical issues in criminal justice. She recently published "Restorative Justice and the Peacemaking Ethic" located in Justice, Crime, and Ethics (6th edition).

Previous to joining the GCSU faculty, Dr. de Posada was an associate professor of French and Spanish at Macon State College in Macon, Ga.; and a French and Spanish lecturer at Florida A &M University in Tallahassee, Fla. He earned a Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies in French Medieval and Renaissance Studies at the Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne in Reims, France, a Master of Science in modern language education at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, and a Doctor of Philosophy in French at The Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla. His research interests include U.S. Latino writers of Caribbean descent, French and Spanish Pedagogy, Poetry of Diaspora and Exile, and Poetry of the French Renaissance.
Stephen Price

Before joining the GCSU faculty, Professor Price served as a teaching assistant in communication at University of Missouri in Columbia, and as a teaching associate in broadcasting and a graduate assistant in broadcasting at San Francisco State University in San Francisco. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in communication with a minor in rural sociology at University of Missouri-Columbia, and a Master's degree in broadcasting from San Francisco State University. His research interests include media literacy, self-reflexive television, and TV Audiences. He also enjoys volleyball and sustainable living.

Previous to joining GCSU, Professor Procter was dean of the College of Fine Arts and Professor of Art at University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Ala., prior to joining GCSU. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina. His interests are drawing and painting.

Prior to GCSU, Professor Romero was a teaching assistant at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, and a Spanish translator for Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate. Her experience includes teaching Spanish in Queretaro, Mexico, and serving as a Spanish coordination assistant and research assistant at Autonomous University of Queretaro in México. She earned a Bachelor degree of modern languages in Spanish at University of Querétaro, and a Master of Arts degree in Spanish at Western Michigan University. Her interests include languages and literature, traveling to learn foreign cultures, Yoga, dancing, music and art.

Dr. Vail was an instructor in the Department of Communication at The University of Memphis before coming to GCSU. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in speech communication at Ball State University, a Master of Arts degree in popular culture at Bowling Green State University, a Master of Arts degree in speech communication at Eastern Illinois University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Communication at The University of Memphis. His interests include public speaking, rhetorical criticism and theory, public memory and commemoration, popular culture, the rhetoric of the Civil Rights movement and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Bruno Wambi, Ph.D.

Dr. Wambi previously served as an assistant professor at several schools, including Pittsburg State University in Kansas, the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Monmouth College in Illinois, and at the University of Notre Dame. He earned a Master of Arts degree in French literature at University of Marien Gouabi in Brazzaville, Congo. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Library Science, and a Doctor of Romance Languages, both from the University of Missouri, Columbia. His research interests include African studies, African literature, Francophone literatures and cultures and French literature.

Dr. Zehnder was a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Entomology at Texas A & M University in College Station before coming to GCSU. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Pennsylvania State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Ecology at University of Georgia. Her research interest is plant-insect iterations.
