Have you ever piloted a new course and found
that it wasn’t going as well as you had hoped once you got a few weeks
into it?
Have you ever felt uncomfortable with the class
atmosphere or some other aspect of a particular section or course you
were teaching, but weren’t sure what was wrong?
Have you ever wanted your students to be more
accountable for making class a successful learning experience?
Have you ever wished your end of course student
evaluations could be more positive and informative?
CETL offers a confidential, formative, mid-term
student feedback consultation service available to all GC&SU faculty.
Utilizing 30 minutes of class time, the consultant guides students through
a group consensus building process in which they address the following
four questions:
What
do you like about any aspect of this course that helps you learn the
material?
What
suggestions do you have for improving any aspect of this course that
would help you learn more?
How
could those suggestions be implemented?
Finally,
what can students do to improve this course?
The consultant collates the data then meets with
you, the instructor, to help you decide how you would like to address
and respond to the student feedback.
