Environmental Awareness at GCSU

 

 Georgia College boasts a vigorous environmental community dedicated to improving the knowledge of students, faculty and staff.  There are many strong academic programs and organizations that lead in this effort

These groups and academic units promote a variety of opportunities for public education, including guest speakers, workshops, and pubic lectures:

  • Global Warming

  • Johannssen

  • Project WET

  • Adopt-A-Stream

  • Earth Day

 

 

Ongoing efforts to develop environmental awareness are crucial to building GCSU's status as a green campus.

 

 

Environmental Education at GCSU

 

There are many programs that support environmental education.  Some of the environmental courses include:

  • Environmental History

  • Environmental Economics

  • Environment and Society

  • Resource Use

  • Environmental Chemistry

 

 

Awareness and Education in the Community

 

GCSU is an active member of the local community.  We are working to build relationships with local agencies and organizations:

  • Lockerly Arboretum

  • Oconee River Greenway Authority

  • Bartram Educational Forest

  • Oconee National Forest

  • Andalusia Farm

 

 

Policy Recommendations

 

Policy recommendations for Environmental Awareness and Education activities are currently being developed by the GCSU Green Initiative Task Force.
