Under a new process approved by the University President and Vice President for Academic Affairs, all funds for Graduate Assistantship positions, beginning in FY'2008, are allocated to the schools.  The deans are responsible for recommending the allocation of funds to support graduate assistantships on a yearly basis.  Units wishing to fund graduate assistantship positions must submit this request to a specific academic department or school, including a description of the work experience expected from the student in the position.  Such experience must be relevant to the graduate degree program.  The academic departments or schools will determine the merit and appropriateness of the work experience and make the recommendation to approve or deny the request to fund an assistantship.

All requests for graduate assistantships (state and unit funded) will be made using the on-line request form; each request must include a description of the work expectations, appropriate graduate programs involved, and the learning outcomes associated with the request.  These applications will be forwarded to the graduate coordinators of the programs indicated on the form.
