Staff Council
Annual Report FY 2000-2001

As with many of the committees and councils, Staff Council has undergone many changes in the last two years. This council is recognized as a standing council reporting to the President. The main goal of Staff Council is to participate in the process of the university governance by acting in an advisory capacity to the president about issues that affect classified employees as a whole and about matters that affect the general welfare of the University.
Staff Council Accomplishments:
* Development Funds were used to support over thirty conferences and workshops. These range from computer workshops to professional conferences. Additional training materials will be purchased with any remaining funds.
* Staff Excellence Awards were re-implemented.
* On-line feedback submission was created to support increased communications and a printed feedback form has been provided to areas without computer access.
* Sponsored “Denim Day” to raise money for Dr. Beth Rushing’s Avon Walk for Cancer.
* In conjunction with Human Resources and Legal Affairs, revised the Transfer & Promotion Policy
* Supported the community Relay for Life Walk for a Cure.
