Staff Council
Annual Report for 2003-2004
June 21, 2004
The 2003-2004 academic year has seen many changes and opportunities for Staff Council. Staff Council Executive Committee was included in the interview process for all presidential candidates. We welcomed in our new President in January. Staff Council’s presence and input is still increasing around campus. We have maintained our multiple seats on University Senate, a staff member was included on each standing committee of University Senate and a delegate was assigned to be on the Physical Master Planning Committee for the University which meets over the summer.
The main concerns for staff continue to be the pay study and parking. The pay study will be addressed at a meeting with Dr. Leland and her staff this summer. Her idea is to develop a multi-year plan to address this issue. The parking issue will be a part of the Physical Master Planning Committee’s agenda which will also meet this summer.
Staff Council Accomplishments:
• Development funds were used to support over 110 seminars, conferences and professional development courses for staff.
• Co-sponsored the annual Benefits Fair.
• Increased awareness of our “Staff Excellence Awards Ceremony”, attendance has grown tremendously.
• Attended every New Employee Orientation session to provide information on Staff Council and Staff Development funds.
