Report from The G.I.V.E. Center
Kendall Stiles gave her report regarding Community Service Projects:
1) Blood Drive on Monday, April 23rd in MSU Lounge.
2) Tree Planting on Monday, April 23rd, location to be announced.
3) Staff Excellence Awards at 9:00 a.m. on April 27th in the MSU Lounge.
4) Breakfast of Champions will be on April 26th at 3:00 p.m. in MSU Lounge.
Relay for Life Recap
Terri and Ann thanked everyone for the outstanding turnout at Relay for Life this year. We purchased a canopy and a banner, both of which can be utilized in a variety of other ways. The banner came out nice, the pizza was good, and everyone had a great time.
Board of Regents Meeting Recap
Cindy thanked all of the staff for their amazing efforts before and during the Board of Regents visit to campus. The President appreciated the efforts of the entire campus that made this event so great.
Committee Updates
The Treasurer, Alma Hall, had nothing new to report. Some recent expenses that will be coming through are Relay for Life, our banner, the welcome signs, the canopy, and the Staff Council stationary.
The Chair of the Nominations and Elections Committee, Priscilla Hooks, reported that we had 10 people nominated for the Staff Excellence Award. Elections will be coming up soon and more information will be available at the next Staff Council meeting. It was noted that one division provided two names, without holding an election. Erica referred to the bylaws, which states ?Membership shall be based upon a popular vote within the designated divisions.? Quintus volunteered to handle this matter and will follow up with the other divisions who have not yet held elections.
New Business
Erica officially announced that Friday, April 27th would be her last day at GCSU. Erica discussed the idea that Kendall (who was serving the initial one-year term) roll over to assume the second year of her term and then elections be held to replace Kendall?s vacancy on Staff Council. Clay made the motion, Alma seconded it, and it passed unanimously.
Cindy announced that Robert Ethier has declined to assume the position of Chair for next year. Some discussion took place regarding Robert?s replacement and the procedures for making this replacement. It was decided that the delegates would meet on Thursday, April 26th immediately after the Staff Excellence Awards (around 9:30 a.m.) to discuss and vote for a new chair.
Cindy discussed a suggestion from President DePaolo that we create a Staff Council brochure. Cindy will check with Lynn Allen to see if she is willing to help us create one. Staff Council will cover the printing costs associated with the brochure. Delegates were encouraged to provide information and pictures from key events for the brochure.
Cindy mentioned the proposed change in the dates for Spring Break. Staff has expressed concern that it will not coincide with the school systems. She will keep the delegates posted.
Meeting adjourned at 2:50 p.m.
Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 31st at 2:00 p.m. in Chappell 110.
Respectfully submitted,
Erica L. Freitag
