GCSU hosts Collaborative Digital Education Summit for educators in July

The 'Georgia Digital Innovation Group @ Georgia College' will host the first Collaborative Digital Education Summit for K-12 and Higher Education Innovators July 10-12 at Georgia College & State University.

Faculty, teachers and administrators from across the southeast are invited to attend this exciting experience at the Milledgeville campus.

The summit begins Tuesday, July 10, and concludes Thursday, July 12, at 12:30 pm. A series of optional workshops and special focus sessions are scheduled for July 9-10.

The DI Group is an initiative of Georgia College & State University and the University System of Georgia's Advanced Learning Technologies unit. It is a resource organization, working with Apple and others, to pull together public and private K-12 and higher education institutions throughout the country to encourage collaboration and enhance the learning experience.

The DI Group and GCSU have worked closely with Apple since Georgia College launched the country’s first academic iPod initiative "A Pocketful of Learning" in 2002.

The purpose of the summit is to provide ways to enhance your collaborative efforts to transform the total learning experience through innovative technologies. The agenda “Rethinking Collaboration and the Digital Natives’ Learning Experience in the 21st Century” centers on concepts, more than prescriptions, for advancing your unique efforts.

Presenters are among some of the most forward-thinking higher education and K-12 leaders in the country. Keynote presentations include; Dan Schmit, author and instructional technology specialist with the College of Education at the University of Neb.; Colleen Kennedy, Dean of the College of Education at the University of South Florida; and Tim Tyson, Principal of Mabry Middle School in Marietta, Ga.

Activities throughout the gathering will include discussions with presenters, interaction with panels, exchange with students and development of ideas for attendees to take back to their home campuses. Registered participants will receive an iPod to use during the hands-on developmental activities.
