Clothesline Project brings awareness to domestic violence

The Clothesline Project sponsored by Georgia College’s Women’s Resource Center serves as a visual reminder of the women and children affected by domestic violence.

“After seven years, the impact of the shirts remains strong,” said Jennifer Graham, Women’s Resource Center Coordinator.

The Clothesline Project is part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and honors victims of domestic violence. Georgia College is one of six registered Clothesline Projects across the state.

“It’s doing what it’s supposed to do. It’s raising awareness,” Graham said.

Georgia College adopted the Clothesline Project in 2003. Shirts from years past are hung alongside the new T-shirts decorated by people affected by domestic violence.

The Clothesline Project across the front campus can be viewed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. this week.
