Department of Art presents Art Installation by TeaYoun Kim-Kassor

large photo The Department of Art is pleased to present an art installation by Georgia College Fiber Arts Professor TeaYoun Kim-Kassor,

The professor’s exhibition will be displayed from Oct. 1 through Oct. 8 at Wooten-Garner House ArtFix Gallery on South Clarke Street. A reception is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7.

“This project describes not only who/where I am but also represents how individuals of a society, including myself, ignore other’s pain or simply their mere existence,” Kim-Kassor said. “The objects are arranged hanging in an enclosed space, indicating a barrier. The projected images are figurative representations of myself or yourself within the identity of a society or a faction within a society. Viewers walk around or stand in the space between the groups of sculpture and observe the projected images on the created wall. Within this void the viewers become one of ‘the disconnected’.”

Kim-Kassor received a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tenn., and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from Sungshin Women’s University, Seoul, Korea.

The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The event is free and open to the public.
