Georgia College Department of Art presents, “Common Ground: Paintings and Prints,” by Cheryl Warrick. The exhibition will be displayed Sept. 21 through Oct. 23 in Blackbridge Hall Art Gallery. A reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 with an artist talk at 6 p.m.
“Common Ground,” a collection of paintings and prints, invites viewers to create stories of their own through symbolism, abstraction, color and representation visible within her works.
“I am exploring symbols, text, landscapes and abstraction as I search for how it is we become wise,” Warrick said. “As best I can tell wisdom is an accumulation of bits and pieces of both experience and words. In my paintings and works on paper these visual elements are woven together like patchwork quilts.”
Warrick has developed her artistic career by presenting exhibitions across the United States from New York to Georgia. She has shown her work at numerous universities including Cornell University and the Art Institute of Chicago. The artist has been featured in publications such as The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Boston Globe and the Jamaica Plain Gazette.
Georgia College student Emily Ewalt curated the exhibition.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. For more information call gallery coordinator Carlos M. Herrea at (478) 445-7025.
