The GCSU Library and Instructional Technology Center has been selected to receive a gift of “100 Books for Understanding Contemporary Japan” from the Nippon Foundation. Mostly university press publications, the books deal with a wide variety of topics related to Japan, including contemporary Japanese history, literature, politics, art, business, and film.
A Nippon Foundation committee of scholars with diverse expertise in Japanese culture selected the publications. The monetary value of the books is $5,944, or 548,459 yen, but the true value is what they bring students’ understanding of the Japanese culture.
The GCSU Library is one of 300 selected by the Nippon Foundation to receive this gift.
