Milledgeville Museum Association (MMA) members will participate in the fifth annual Museum Day, presented Saturday, Sept. 26 by Smithsonian magazine. Milledgeville museums will be among the 1,000 museums and cultural institutions nationwide opening their doors free of charge to Smithsonian magazine readers and Smithsonian.com visitors.
A celebration of culture, learning and the dissemination of knowledge, Smithsonian’s Museum Day reflects the spirit of the magazine, and emulates the free-admission policy of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, DC-based properties.
“This event is created as an opportunity for individuals, families and groups to become more aware and have additional access to the great variety of museums and attractions located in Milledgeville—Baldwin County,” according the MMA members.
Last year more than 200,000 people attended Museum Day, with all 50 states plus Puerto Rico represented by more than 900 participating museums, including 84 Smithsonian affiliate museums.
These MMA members will open their museums from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26:
