Films, information sessions, exhibits and games. International students and faculty representing 50 countries are preparing for the 13th Annual International Week. For one week the campus of Georgia College hosts internationally-oriented events for students and community members.
“It’s an opportunity to highlight the diversity of cultures represented here,” said Dr. Dwight Call, Assistant Vice President for the International Education Center. “Our goal is to graduate students who are ready to become citizens in the world and take responsibility for the world.”
At least 150 students participate in preparations for International Day, said Libby Davis, the center’s associate director.
“We want students to spark the interest of other students.”
Student Colin McAlister hopes International Week will bring new knowledge.
“I hope International Week broadens the knowledge of how interconnected the world is to the university student body,” said McAlister, a six-year member of the International Club.
